An Abingdon community group is searching for their very own Rudolf to help transport Santa this Christmas. For many years, Santa’s Sleigh Ride has become an annual tradition which the Abingdon Lions Club have organised for many years. But this year’s event is under threat as the Club need to find a vehicle to transport Santa around the local estates over a 10-night period in December. Lions President Ron Skinner said “: “Children queue up to see Santa. It’s very popular and families enjoy the sleigh travelling round the estates. It would be a real shame if we had to stop.” Last year’s Santa Tour raised over £3,000 which the Abingdon Lions Club distribute amongst local organisations and good causes.
“We need a vehicle that can tow Santa or perhaps a small flatbed truck that can carry the sleigh for 2-3 hours each night of the tour” added Ron, “we’re not looking for a commitment to all 10 nights, although that would be great, just helping us out for 1 evening would make a big difference. We’re open to ideas and help from members of the public or the local business community to keep this great tradition going. ”
